The Right Way

God sent his Ambassador of Peace
To teach us benevolence, to give us surcease
From the wickedness that prevailed on the earth.
All this should have changed with the dear Saviors birth.
How sad are the Heavens at warring world's woe.
God gave us the answer all those years ago.
He died for our sins and He went willingly
Still teaching that love is the way it should be.

Every gardener knows no weed can survive,
If you cut off the food that keeps it alive.
If we take the greed from our hearts, you and I
The same from the top will wither and die.
Every creature lives on the lowly below.
If we change in our ways, they'll have nowhere to go.
If you have a sick tree, you don't cut from the top.
You provide the roots needs and the illness will stop.

Every drug lord would go broke soon enough,
If not a consumer was buying his stuff.
Every money changer would have a big fall,
If none of us wanted his goods after all.
If changing the world is your aim, start at home.
This will keep you quite busy with no need to roam.
He showed us how when He came from above.
The answer forever and always is love.

This is a beautiful poem and I could only wish that we could all live up to your words. Those of us at the bottom of society certainly will have often tried. The hardest task will to be to get the rich men through the eye of the needle. I'm afraid if those of us without the power simply concentrate on being good those who manipulate us will simply find their task easier...

Dear Allan,  We are both trying to get to the same conclusion from a different angle.  You remind me of my son.  The dearest man in the world but we didn't always agree on the same strategies.  I miss his bright mind.  Love, Joyce

I'm very sorry for your loss Joyce. I do respect your views on non-violence. I must admit I believe that those who DO use violence have not chosen that path, they havn't one day switched a switch in their heads to become that way. What causes people to be violent? At least at times it is the deeds of the powerful 'way up above them inflicting cruel suppression on them and their families. Those elite groups at the top of society can be extremely remote and can act in cruel and blind ways, only reacting to the need to preserve their own influence and power.

There was a man called Edward Bernays, he was Sigmund Freud's nephew. He came to America and pursuaded the various elites that under the calm exterior of every average citizen was a wild repressed and irrational beast that could surface and cause havoc at any time. The elites firmly believe they must manipulate us and keep us as nice docile sheep. They believe it is "in our best interests". They believe only they are capable of detached thought and lofty motives and that we must be taught not to rock the boat, to only obey. Sadly these same elites also naturally enough own the corporations that have a vested interest in selling us ever more stuff and in exploiting the world's resources no matter the consequences. They will eventually destroy all innocence and simple ways of life to get all our noses into the trough of products they produce ad nauseam.

Sorry, I have a bee in my bonnet and am perched upon a hobby horse balanced on a soap box. A precarious position!

May your God go with you...

Best wishes, Allan
