Truest Love

Ever it's been and ever it shall be,
One loves the most of any loving pair.
Though both may scoff and claim equality,
Shakespeare himself could not find love so rare.
Love does not weigh itself nor set a price,
It freely gives of all there is to give.
He who would love the most will offer twice
And thrice his life, that his beloved might live
In happiness and wonderful content.
The pendulum may swing a bit it's true,
But when at last a lifetime has peen spent,
Small variance an ounce of love or two.
Think not my darling that I idly boast,
I would, I pray, be she who loves the most.

Joyce:  This sounds like something Elizabeth Barrett Browning might have written!  What a special poem and just lovely to read.

really like this gem, Joyce.

Joyce,I cannot express enough how incredibly
wise and beautiful this is.What a wealth of Heart and expression you have! You do not cease to touch and amaze me.I am not kidding!
This is absolutely a masterpiece of the Heart. It's so funny, these very thoughts and words have been a topic that has been exchanged between myself and a few other people I have come to know recently.I have to share this with my friends. It is just beautiful.Needless-to-say,this is another
"keeper".

Thank you all and especially you, Geoffry for your lavish praise.

This is a basic concept I have always tried to teach my children and now my grandchildren.  It isn't how much you are loved that will make for happiness.  it is how much you love.Love to you,  Joyce
