I Once Dreamed

I once dreamed, in colors bright,
Of all the wondrous things I might
Do and see.  Life stretched away
Like a sunny, prairie day.

I once dreamed in scale so grand.
Had the years all set and planned.
Looking back, there's very few
Things I thought of, that came true.

Yet, there's little I would change.
Maybe that sounds rather strange.
There's been sorrow, there's been strife,
But also good things in my life.
Love and marriage.Children too.
I once dreamed and I still do!

Hi Betty,

That was jus lovely...Dreams are pleasant, but when they turn into reality its life's special embrace that leads us to more dreams
You've said it all in this beautiful piece

Joyce:  Thanks.  You're right, I never dreamed that poetry would be such a big part of my life.  I hope you're right about it touching the lives of others.

all poets are dreamers my friend else we would be at a loss for words I think.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

Enjoyed the read.
