Hey, look up there, up in the sky, an angel’s floating by
With pretty puffy wings ‘n’ curly puffy hair, oh my!
I hope someday God gives us pretty wings so we can fly
And bounce around all day on puffy clouds up in the sky.

(That would be wonderful, Nicole!)

You shoulda seen my friend today, oh boy, did he look cool,
He wore a leather jacket, boots and shades today to school,
I think he really likes me ‘cause he sat close to my stool
And said, “when it gets hot again, come to my swimming pool.”

(Watch over, Lord, my sweet Nicole!)

My tummy’s hungry, needs a snack, can we stop by the store?
Can I get chocolate pretzels, chips, and maybe one thing more?
I’ll do my homework really good, right down here on the floor;
See all these stars? My teacher said good work is what they’re for.

(My shining star, you are, Nicole!)

She said to study good tonight, tomorrow is our test;
My homework’s done, can I watch ‘toons’? They are the funniest;
I’m not a baby, don’t take naps, but maybe I’ll just rest
And wait for Mommy to get here…oh, Mom Mom, you’re the best…
…zzzzzzzzzzzzz

(I love you too! Sweet dreams, Nicole!)

Another of my "oldies", based on an actual converstation with my granddaughter, Nicole, when she was in kindergarten...as you can tell, she did most of the talking...and still does!

OhGrandmaDenise~
What a delightful memoried conversation~

I can't wait until Delaney and I begin to have these two-way heart-connected conversations~

Right now ... I whisper sweet poetic thoughts to her ... and she laughs and coos back at me while giving me the most intense in-depth eye contact~
How I LOVE that look~

It's almost as if she's saying 'Just wait until it's MY TURN, Grandma !'

Love this sweet little share of yours~
*HUGLETS* to Nicole~

Denise, this is just precious. My hubby and I can't wait to be grandparents. Of course, none of our three kids are even married yet!!! Rats ...

Thanks, Marge, I'm glad you enjoyed this! Yes, there is nothing quite like that look! No matter how old they get, it's something that is inscribed in your heart forever!  I have a feeling that Delaney will one day be a talented poetess just like her Granny! Great big hugs to you both!

Thanks again, Marge

Thanks, Marti! I'm glad you enjoyed it! Being a grandparent is one of the best things life has to offer! I know you will just love it, one of these days!

I think being a Grandma is just about the best thing next to having one.  I love to be with my two grandson's (aged 7 and 12), and I can remember fondly all the time I spent with my Grandma (and Grandpa too, of course, but Grandma's are ssssssssooooooooooo special).

Cherish the moments...  they grow up so fast.

They certainly do grow up sooooo fast, Sheila. I can't believe Nicole is eight already. She is my oldest. I also have Abigail, Nicole's sister, who just turned one and Christian, their cousin, who just turned three. They are all such little cuties!

Thanks for reading and replying!

My youngest granddaughter had her 28th birthday yesterday.  I wrote her a poem about her younger years and I remembered things she had forgotten.  She loved it.  Joyce

Oh,Denise.It sounds like you have much "Inspiration" there at home!? What could the trouble be?We all have those dry spells and life holds so many distractions to keep us busy(if not to drive us mad at times ).Perhaps,it is only to bless those of us who have not caught some of your previously inspired work.This was so warm and so real.One for my "vaults".

Denise~
Unfortunately, I am not a mom or a grandma,
but this touched me so deeply that it actually
left a lump in my throat.
There is so much love in this write...I can just feel it.
Thanks so much for sharing this one, Denise.

This is truly a delight to read. I have one in kindergarden so I know how cute they are. Kids can be so endearing... especially to grandma.
