I was there
   Washington Square
and in the air the smell of city overwhelms
And all the noise
   of Village boys
in search of toys within those concrete realms
I find pathetic
   in their sporatic,
sometimes erratic toils for anything to buy
And while I'd wait,
   the Village Gait
swings open Fate for all within and passing by
I am there
   Washington Square
The trees are bare as like my homeless state of being
And Love eludes
   as pungent foods
like attitudes exuding lost dispersion without seeing
I was there
   Washington Square
Boom boxes blare without a care to all those there
See,I was caught
   while I had sought
all this for naught or so it seemed within
         Washington Square
