Harvest

There is smoke upon the mountain
And the valley's filled with haze
And the autumn leaves are falling
Through these meancholy days.
As I walk the wild lake's edges,
I can hear the loons mad cry
And I search to see geese flying
In dark "v's" across the sky
And the red sun sinks in splendor,
While the harvest moon appears
To be larger and more yellow
Than it has in other years.
As I gather in the apples,
I gather memories too,
Of flaming sugar maple trees
And of morning's pearled with dew.
Of the purple evening shadows
And a hundred other sights
And sounds and scents and feelings,
That will warm my winter nights!

Dear Betty,
I am working on reading as much as I can. I haven't read this before. I can't tell if it's as beautiful as all of your others or more beautiful. You really have a God-given talent.Barb

This is beautiful...when I was reading this it made me think of a fireplace keeping you warm into the winter nights after harvesting your bounty for the cold winter months. Very nice, as they always are.

(smiles) Oh Betty, I absolutely love those flaming sugar maple trees too, dearest friend, we have quite a few of hem right here in the mountains of Colorado and especially in October and November a nice Sunday drive can bring out the best in the experience! (kiss on cheek) God Bless You, sweet friend, this is a true poetic harvest, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Betty, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
