Stray Moonbeams

While waiting for the moon to rise,
I fell asleep, to my surprise
And as I slept, the moon arose.
She smiled upon my sweet repose
And brilliantly dispensing light,
She sailed in triumph through the night.
Until at last, with dawn, she went
On down the western firmament.
How do I know that she was there?
I found stray moonbeams, in my hair!

this is sweet Betty....

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

Betty;; This poem is enchanting and delightful! In the morning, I will be checking for those moonbeams that you promise! Hugs, Ellie
