A lazy, late, Fall night,
Reminicing of days gone by,
Of young dreams in flight,
Often telling bigger lies.

Age creeping up,
On once youthful forms.
Results of sipping from life's cup.
Once young minds, now age worn.

The dreams were never forgoten.
The "good, old, days" never really gone.
The bad times were still rotten.
Each memory by itself, but never alone.

As the evening grows longer,
They are thankful for lessons learned.
For things that made them stronger,
And for the bridges they did burn.

As the next day dawns,
We realize our "set" ways,
Were from our youth spawned,
And this present hour our finest day.

You're so right.  We do get set in our ways and that may not be all bad.  Well done.  Joyce

Ah, Chili, you are a magnificent poet! The truths you pen of are so true ....exquisite poetry!  Ellie

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.

CHILI:  Enjoyed your poem.  I wonder how many of us would really swap what we have today, for what lies in the past?  I know I wouldn't even though some memories are sweet.

Tillium, thank you for taking the time to read and for the nice compliment. I spent alot of years getting to the place I am now,  I cherish my memories of the past and I leave them there.
