Once again, I trip down the aisle.
To a destiny that's unknown.
I wonder,
Is it the last mile?
Have I truely grown?
Will upon my face I wear a smile?
Or will it turn itself around,
As I walk that longest mile,
To become a frightend frown?
Do I dare to trust myself?
With such an important decision?
Or should I put my life upon a shelf,
Then cut these fearful bonds
With the sharpest precision?
Should I dare this chance to take?
Will it bring a sweet and gentle joy?
Or will it my fragile heart break?
Then.. Once again, I'll be life's toy.
These tremors that I feel,
Are they fear?
Are they even real?
Do they come from a love so dear?
Which ones might they be?
I just can't seem the truth to see.
Will they caress me,
With the softness of a warm breeze?
Or just bring the coldness of a winter sea?
How will I ever know,
If it's truely part
of love's sweet glow?

I hope it worked out okay, but too bad these feelings weren't sorted out just a little sooner.  Joyce

I love this poem! Kathy join the rest of us. Because there is always uncertainty. Who ever knows the future!! Only faith that God will take care of us, is the one true certainty. Hugs, Ellie

Wow, such indecision. I do hope it works/worked out for you. It begs the question: Do all women have similar thoughts at the eleventh hour?

If so, it may go some way to understanding why I have experienced such dismal failure in each of my, relatively, long marriages. haha

I enjoyed your writing Chili. Thanks for the read.

I guess one becomes content with one’s poetry when one opens the book ten years hence and does NOT exclaim, “Did I really write this?”

I suspect I would enjoy the read. I'll see if I can find my way to a search engine here. Thanks!

Kathy, this so far is my favorite of yours.Taking such a big step can be over-whelming.You
just wrote from your Heart with such honesty and reflection, honestly facing your fears and
putting them into such well balanced words.
Excellent! My only question is...are things better than you feared?I hope so!

Peace,Kathy

Street Heart, thank you for taking the time to read and for the nice compliments. Yes, it worked out wonderful, the man I married that day is the one I wrote about in my poems The Gift and Loves Storm.
