They'll trickle through a crevice of my day --
reflections caught in amber drops of light;
small joys that bounced across my children's play,
a loving voice that whispered, "It's alright."

They briefly pause, impart a wistful calm,
then yield to stern reality's control;
kaleidoscopic moments in my palm
cannot replace the warmth I long to hold.

For those who walk the twilight path alone,
each footstep has a hollow crunch. Mistakes,
still breathing, mock; if only we had known
how quickly brittle stalks of time can break.

The preciousness that makes a moment last
is shaped while it is still within our grasp.

the separation of an inseparable pair is the cruelest of life's situations. This is sad but very well done Lary.Cudos.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

This is an excellent poem.... yes, very poignant... with a very natural rhythm, and great wording withing the parameters of rhyme... not to mention a very touching conveyence of loss...

Love is a ghost train rumblin' through the darkness...

Thank you, Pegasus...your heart is kind, and your words are gentle.

Hi Joyce...thank you so much -- we try to write our sorrow away, I guess...
