A Sea Ballet

On rugged rocks along the shore,
Where breakers dash their spray and roar,
Sea lions bask, or ride a wave
Inside a deep and hidden cave.
It's here upon the beach each year,
The pups are born and you can hear
Them add their voices to the din
That echoes off the walls within.
It is a busy colony
That lives in kinship with the sea
And though on land, they're awkward, slow,
When in the water they will show
A matchless grace; a sea ballet,
With speed and elan on display!

Joyce:  Thanks.  Have you ever been to the sea lion caves at Florence, Oregon?  Part of this poem was born there.

such a beautifully graphic picture. I feel as though I am there. I love to watch seals at play.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost
