Sea Otters

Sea otters always make me smile.
They have a certain flair and style.
I like to see them on their back,
Devouring a tasty snack
And when they want to go to sleep,
A frond of kelp will help them keep
From floating far away from where
They find their favorite bill of fare.

Eyes filled with curiosity
Look out upon the world they see
And mostly find they like it well,
But when the winds begin to swell
And then become a fearsome gale,
You often hear the young pups wail,
So they will sometimes go ahore
To wait until it's safe once more.

I sense a feel for comedy
In whiskered faces that I see.
Their fur is dense, so soft and deep
And constant grooming helps them keep
Air bubbles trapped against their hide
So they stay warm and dry inside.
Tme, they're dear as they can be.
These charming creatures of the sea.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

pegasus111:  No sea otters at all here, but we go to the Oregon coast often and I can see all I want there.

Marge:  Thanks so much for the hugs and the comments.  Ron will be thrilled when I give him his!  He always wants to know if I've heard from you.  Sea Otters are about his favorite sea creature.

Dear Betty.  I am just home and enjoying catching up on the postins.  You have been blessed with such a keen eye for enjoying all of nature.
I had a lovely convention and my design was a hit.  I incorporated one of my collector dolls with a frame and since she was wearing a pink dress, I used pink roses to enhance the whole picture. She sat right by the entrance door to our meeting rooms.  We had the hottest day of the year while I was gone and got back to my garden and it is cloudy and much cooler.  Love, Joyce

Joyce:  Thanks for commenting on this poem and I was glad to see you are safely home.
Your design sounds just enchanting!  I'm sure it was.  We are having 80 plus days this last couple and supposed to be continuing for the next 5. Went from cold to hot overnight! So glad you enjoyed the convention.
