Along a Country road

Along a country road, I see,
Old fences, farms, a tapestry
Of rural life put on display.
Fields of wheat and oats and hay.
Gardens where the corn is high.
Weather-vanes that catch the eye.
Dogs and horses, cats and cows,
Tractors, combines and old plows.
There's a feeling in the air
Nothing much has changed out there.
Life goes on in the same way,
People lived it yesterday!

you farm girls sure have long and pleasant memories of country life. This is lovely.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

Joyce:  Thanks.  Aside from modern conveniences, much of farm life stays the same I think.  At least that is my observation of the local farms.

pegasus111:  I suppose the memories of the farm stayed with me so strongly,  because it was part of my childhood.  Now, though I live in the country, there's no farming involved, however, we have a number of farms in our area.  There is much good in that kind of life.  Thanks for your remarks.

A lovely description -- I can see it clearly, Betty Lou!
Scenes like this filled my childhood...
so peaceful....

This is just wonderful, could almost smell the clean fresh air, and see the cows in the pasture.  Love it.  Bonnie
