the eighth poem in the wildflower series

____________________________________________________

Jewel of Spring

That tiny gem in darkness sleeps
her dreams unknown to all but me
soft blanket tucked protectively
such rare beauty one is yet to see

The days spill slowly into night
a lonely soul mourns empty arms
awake my love, my precious flower
unleash the secret of thy charms

shed thy coat in springlike rains
unfold thy limbs that all may view
the splendor of thy slender charm
the petals of thy purple hue

Thy perfume send through silent air
embrace the one whose senses burn
this heart that needs thee totally
waits patiently for thy return

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

pegasus111:  A lovely poem and strikes a responsive chord. I too like to write about wildflowers.

Well I know you're speaking of more than wildflowers but this is nice.  Joyce

Aha!
I finally made it in again -- cloned, I guess, LOL!

Hi George!
My first stop...how delightfully rewarding!
Of all the ones I remember, I find this the most exquisite...
I can't even pick a favorite stanza...
the warmth of "soft blanket tucked protectively",
the lilt of "the splendor of thy slender charm",
right down to the heartfelt conclusion...
bravo!

WOW! Peg....this is soooo exquisite and I agree with Wordancer that you continue to outdo yourself with the magnificence of your "Wildflower" series! Bravo!  Ellie
