Never Known "Homecoming is in a few weeks. There are feelings of which he never speaks. Though it hurts him not to say. He'd rather not frighten you away." There's something I've never known. I've never shined through in what is shown. What is it like to be loved in return? All I know is rejection's burn. I'm like a dolphin born into a concrete pool. Never having seen fish gather and school. Yet who yearns day in and out for the open sea. A seabird's feather smells of where he should be. He hears the whispers behind the confine. Or the breeze scented of salt brine. I have only known romantic angst and rejection. And the following hurtful dejection. Yet I still yearn to give and receive love. I pray for it daily from God above. Your kind gestures showed me what it could be. Sadly, it wasn't for me. Cursed again to the cold, lonely path. Unrequited love again shows me her wrath. I know I truly love you, for if he is your desire. Go to him, though pain for me it shall inspire. I only want you to be happy and content. Though my heart is tattered and rent. Alone and isolated, as before. Yet another rejection to add on score. Even lonely I'm still friendly and kind. Though love never returned in kind. Know this, you have taken my heart. I regret it not, though I am pulled apart. I cover my pain with little white lies. When I hear of your love, something in me dies. I'm like a dolphin born in a concrete pool. Who's never seen fish freely school. Even lonely he's eager and friendly. However, the trauma hidden is sadly. When the sea speaks behind the steel ties. Something inside him slowly dies. I know I truly love you, if he is whom you desire. Go to him, despite the pain in me it will inspire. I'll stay friends with you through thick and thin. If you want me to, otherwise I'll bear and grin. You said you were lucky to have friend like me. That alone made my heart soar wide and free. If you desire, go to him with all your heart. I've already been emotionally pulled apart. I grew up in a house of romance and love. My parents, though opposites like eagle and dove. Still love each other after decades pass. Their romance was my romantic compass. I wanted to feel love like that on my own. But sadly its what I've never known. The dolphin of the concrete pool. Who's never seen fish swarm and school. Catches a glimpse of the stars above. He's never known his pod mate's love. He's never frolicked free in the evening tide. I've never walked with you along the night tide. Sadly love is something I've never known. I've never shined through in what I've shown. I content myself with being your good friend. Regardless of the end. Forget me not my Lili Marlene.
