Lifeless gray
Filling the space I live
Looking over cubicle walls
To a view of day's wakening
Watching as the sun shines bright
Over trees and skies of blue
Wishing I could be among the geese
As they soar through the air
But alas, I am bound
To this lowly cage
Until the evening comes
When the sun lays to rest
But soon, I will be able to bask
In the warmth of the sun
But for now, I must stay
For dawn to dusk is a way of life
In this compact little space
I must call my home

Fear destroys the mind, depression destroys the soul... only love and compassion may save you from death.

I'm reading this in my gray cubicle..I understand the feeling behind this. My cube is no where NEAR a window though. The world could blow away and I'd never know it! I enjoyed your poem.

I keep forgetting how lucky I am to have a window in my cube     you well captured the feeling of being confined to a job, so that we can live.

LonelyShadow~
This was a 'sweaty-palms' read for this claustrophobic reader~

I once quit a job I liked because they stuck me in a cubicle with no window ... just couldn't do it !

Compelling read when you had me gasping for breath ... well done~

I liked your poem and could relate to the feelings expressed.  Too bad so many of us spend most of our daytime hours in a "cubicle".  Life is too short!

Thanks, Shadow.

Just a note of weird observation.
My daily work takes me outside driving many miles a day among the wild horses, antelope, deer, and coyotes, of course.
And in opposite kind, I actually enjoy this cyberworld and the "cubicle" I have created for the equipment.
Told ya it was weird.
Liked the poem, a thought provoking work.

I hope the vacation satisfies your longing.
