Lovely lady are you lonely tonight
do you yearn for the one lost long ago

who’s to blame for this empty space
that used to be your heart

Was there something to be done
to keep him by your side

Do you wish you could return in time
for the chance to do it all again

Lovely lady are you lonely tonight
do you play the game of might have been

Or are you content with your life now
with tears that fall in the dark

Lovely lady are you as lonely tonight
as the one that loves you still

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

This is just as about as poignant and bittersweet as it can get peg.  Fine threads of the could of’s, should of’s trace a empty trail of memories that haunt the night.

Well written, poet.

Pegasus~

'are you as lonely tonight
as the one that loves you still'

Such a subtle difference in being 'lonely' and being 'alone'~
You touch this so gently in versed-thought~
