at mercy beach i stand
contemplative
a far stare into distant waves
serenity beckons
let go
let go
as slow tide engulfs
the shore of pebbles
worn smooth
in time

a lone gull calls—
curvature of wing defines
this longing

flash of white grace

in my pocket
i clutch three smooth stones
tokens of water, sand, time
touchstones of absolution
from mercy beach

you have nothing to be repentive about. your words are a beacon for the rest of us.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

wordancer:  This is lovely!  I enjoy the ocean and beach so much and your poem took me there.  I always have beach rocks in my pocket too!

"touchstones of absolution"

If only our "human condition" could wear as smooth with time, as these abraded stones.

Thanks. Dances With Words.

Quite a pondering scene you've pictured. I hope you find the answers you seek.
