Green Vistas

The children run beneath a sky
That's filled with puffy clouds and I
Following at a slower pace,
Enjoy the sunlight on my face.
The winter has been hard and long,
But now we hear the robin's song
And climb a hill so we can see
Green vistas stretching endlessly
Away from us and here the breeze
Brings scent of flowers; buzz of bees.

I watch the children as they range.
I'm thinking of the way things change.
Remembering another day,
When I too was a child at play.
Was I exuberant as these
And did I laugh as loud and tease?
In looking back, I can't recall
That I had this much fun, at all!

human nature is funny. we always seem to think other people are having more fun than we are. ( I know they are! ) as usual your rhyme flows in near flawless rhythm. I'm jealous...

Following at a slower pace

I love walking with the grandkids. It is wonderful to watch them run and play.

Thanks,
Melton

Lovely, lovely poem! I knew when I read the title I was going to enjoy this. Nice imagery, that brings to mind memories of carefree playing. We need to become like children again and enjoy the simple, but beautiful things that surround us.

Joyce:  My childhood was pretty lacking in fun, but I am making up for it in our youngest son and grandchildren. Thanks.

2dalimit:  It is fun being with children and being allowed into their world for awhile. Keeps us young!
