It is spring in our valley, where beauty's awaiting
The thousands of strangers who are coming this way.
Every April it happens, these hordes of spectators.
My cats are in hiding, I'll see them in May.

An artist with brushes sets up his big easel
And photographers swarm for the very best view.
Sixty acres of daffodils at the zenith of glory.
I can't blame folks for stopping and picking a few.

My garden's not ready for this close surveillance.
The wind's been too cold and the rains came so late.
My big yard is not yet at the peak of perfection,
But April and tulip tours simply won't wait.

Welcome dear travelers to a piece of our treasure.
We're so sorry the tulips are still lying abed.
But we and the daffodils are happy to meet you
And our gold's just as lovely as purple and red.

Joyce:  I haven't seen the beauty of your area in bloom, for many years now, but it's a memory not to be forgotten!

Sounds breathtaking! What state do you live in? I need to travel there someday and see this sight.
Love your poem Joyce, it's beautiful and paints a picture that draws the reader in.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

Dear Marge,

An invitation I extend
To you and every poet friend.
Please come to see my daffodils
In the Skagit Valley near the hills.

Love, Joyce
