Twenty-one years together piled,
Might be seen as a massive stack.
But only when looking forward,
It's such a small time looking back.

We thought we would have a lifetime,
But his was to be cut too short.
I've lived another without him;
Missing his love and sweet support.

I wonder what God was thinking
The day He took him from my side.
I question how altered my life
Had not my beloved one died.

Would all our dreams have been fulfilled,
The deeds we'd do, the sights we'd see?
The answer I will never know
For our future was not to be.

Why is it winter lasts so long?
While spring is but a fleeting song.

Oh Joyce. you ask questions we all would like answers to. It is not to be in this lifetime for we are but grains of sand on the beach of life and the master sifter does not share his secrets. Nicely written dear.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

Joyce, you have written such a heart felt piece.  What is worse...having a wonderful love and great memories or having nothing to remember?  Prayers and hugs for you and thanks for sharing,  ME

Joyce... memories are precious, and I believe we carry the good ones with us through all of eternity. So be happy, knowing that love is eternal.

Hugs,
Deb
