Water Lily

Upon a pond, you may have seen
My rounded leaves of shiny green
And if you've noticed, when I spread
My fragrant flowers on the bed
Of quiet water holding me,
I'm sure that you will soon agree,
I am a lovely sight to see.
Quite often white, but sometimes pink,
With yellow stamens and I think
This is a happy place to dwell,
Upon the water's gentle swell.
I have great value in the chain
Of nature's food.My seeds contain
Much starch and protein, just like grain.
I feed a horde of hungry souls
While passing through my many roles,
Of leaf and flower, root and seed
And find the purpose that I need.

Joyce: Thank you for those nice remarks. We have a pond nearby where water lilies grow and I watch for their blooms every year. They are lovely.

A gentle and lovely poem and i could feel the peace of sitting by the pond and watching their beauty! Ellie

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.

Marge:  Thanks and I'm sorry you didn't find what you expected.  I havern't even had a picture of that little doll and I will wait until I see her before I write anything.  Her mom had a rough time and spent a week in the hospital, so hasn't had a chance to take pictures yet.
