Scent of Spring

There is a springtime wind today.
I breathed it in and let it stay,
Until it filled my being up,
Like wine within a loving cup.

I closed my eyes to sort the smell.
There were new leaves there, I could tell
And rising sap and warming earth,
Where soon new plant life would give birth.

But there were other odors too.
A hint of far lands coming through,
That spring had passed while looking for
The path that leads up to my door!

Yes the wind brings far away places to our doors.  I like this idea.  Joyce

oh my!  Such a lovely melodic rhyme. It's cold in Florida today. We also await those spring breezes.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

Joyce:  Thanks for your comments.  It always seems there is a day in early spring, that is full of so many delightful scents, I can't breathe enough of it!

pegasus111:  I've been hearing about the cold spell in the south, including Florida and I'm sure it is very hard on people there. They aren't used to the cold at all!
Thanks for commenting.

Ah, Betty; this is so lovely. How I love this fresh new scent of Spring!

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.

Soaringeagle:  Thanks for leaving your message.  I can't see spring through the snowstorm we're having but I'm sure it's out there somewhere!!

Denise:  Thanks.  This was written strictly from my imagination, as we have had a three day snow storm, which I think is now ending.
