The Harbor Master

All day we'd sailed across the sea
Towards islands steeped in mystery
And as we watched the fading light,
We reached our harbor for the night.
The sail was furled, the anchor cast
And then we could relax at last.
We sat to see the stars appear,
Then faintly, we began to hear
Piano music drifting o'er
The water, from a house on shore.
It was a master at the keys,
Who played the classics with great ease.
It made the evening seem sublime,
A gem within the march of time,
That stood alone and stood apart
And left it's mark upon my heart!

you have painted a very romantic picture. I wish I had been there.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

pegasus111:  Thanks!  It was just a perfect evening.  Moonlight, reflections on the water and that beautiful music.  I often think about it, even though it happened many years ago.

Dear Betty; I almost missed this enchantingly romantic poem!I could feel the music of those classics and the wonder and magic you so beautifully and poetically portrayed. hugs, Ellie

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.
