Mission Trip

Went out on a mini-mission
my partner, brother and me
prayed up to get down.
Stuffed the van full
ONE LORD on the prowl
headed up to Tulsa town.

Met a few street folk
mostly out, not down
fightin just to stay alive.
Seemed to appreciate
us just bringin em tunes
‘sted of the usual shuck and jive.

One of the soup brothers
wore the dusty handle, Tex
kinda wild look in his eye.
Didn’t have, ‘cept his faith
yet he gave us little gifts
pert near made me cry.

Andy was another brother
wild looking, sweet hearted
we sat and talked a spell.
His story all too typical
looking for some heaven
livin next door to hell.

We laughed as we cried
sharin a song, a bit of ourselves,
praying, exchanging names.
Seem’s you just can’t do
these mission visits and ever
remain the same...unchanged.

Amen, Daniel! I'm sure you were just as blessed as those you ministered to! Beautiful expression!

A piece of americana served with breakfast..very nicely done.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

So true, and we would not want to be the same again.
God Bless You,

thanks for all the replies and input!
was a very special experience and growth
opportunity...just the fellowship of the
road trip was great and the ministry among
the "least" of society was the icing on the
cake!  lol have you hugged your hobo today???
