broken pieces
of shattered ideals
stripped of their
virtuous armor
betrayed goals
and forgotten vows
hungry for blood
and love that they stole
what do you do?
when the things
you once knew
to be honest
upright and good
are pulled out of you
and crumpled
mocked and berrated
by those
who should know
that those ideals
are you?
my hands are all cut
as i pick up my heart
now broken
like too shattered glass
there's hope
but for what?
i do not know
but even this
i suppose
will soon pass.

" and I dream of her always,
even when I don't dream.
her name's on my tongue
and her blood's in my stream."

I'm sorry for your sad experience but you are the captain of your soul and no one can destroy your ideals but you.  You'll come through stronger than ever.  Love, Joyce

I am reminded of "Invictus"..good read

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

Once upon a time you had fewer ideals, fewer memories, and much less depth.  That cannot be said of you now.  Your daunting task will help you grow and become the branch of knowledge that holds you aloft somewhere down your path.  Trust me, this is so!

Beautimus write, by the way!!

You pick up the pieces. It hurts and there is always scars left behind, but the heart is much stronger and wiser, when mended with courage to move on.
Have faith that true happiness can be found.
