Little Bird

Little bird of winter
Come and rest here on my window sill
To decorate my window pane
With scalloped wing and warbling trill

I need a little company
To sooth my heart and ease my pain
And you would find some comfort
In the shelter near my window pane

Little bird of winter
Come and give my weary eyes a gift
Of colored wings of beauty
That my lonely spirit would uplift

Then leave your dainty prints
Upon the window’s downy soft of snow
Little marks upon the ledge
To linger with me when you go

This is such a fitting poem for this time of year!  ( I live in Atlanta-area, no snow ) but I know that just about everywhere else is getting lots.  I miss the birds too!
Beautifully written as always,
Debbie

this warmed my heart today. thank you for sharing such a soothing and delicate treasure.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

Elizabeth, I am surprised that that little bird is with you in the snow 'cuz I thought ALL of the birds were down here waiting for the snow to leave!  Take good care of your little beauty and let its song cheer your days,  ME

Liz, you always write the most comforting, beautiful poetry.  It seems that your pen can bring any subject to life - but, it's at it's best when it writes nature.  I really love this one!

Take care,
Melissa~
