The eagle landed without a sound
High in the tree top quietly settled down
Fluffing ruffling each feather put in place
Sitting down to rest with regal grace

The butterfly fluttered landing gently
Tender fragile wings beautiful to see
Tiny feet cling to the swaying petals
Colors blending as she silently settles

The eagle moves only his imperial head
His eyes seeing all before it fled
The butterfly sits and tries not to move
But knowing it will become eagle food

He does swoop down and oh so gently
Takes her to the tree top with him to be
And tries to tell her she is safe
He'll protect her in his lofty place

The eagle and butterfly strange as it seems
Are help-mates and live on moon beams
She can smooth his ruffled feathers
He protects her through all weathers

Fly..fly it is all open sky
Around you great majesty does lie
But don't soar too close to the sun
You have fought the fight and won

an unlikely symbiosis tis true but isnt that what dreams are made of? these vivid images tease the mind. lovely.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

This is sweet.  I don't think a buttefly need worry about being prey for an eagle, but a cherished friend?  Perhaps.  Joyce

pegasus111, dreams can be deceptive, right?

Joyce, our eagle would never hurt a fragile butterfly.  So it must be love.

Solstice Son, thanks.  I so often think "Boy, does that couple really belong together?" And I guess they do if they want to.

BloomingRose, it is a dream that all could live side by side, right?  Thanks for the answer

Know what I love about this message?

It tells me that no matter how mighty or how small there is beauty and freedom in every living creature.

Enjoyed this one, Mother Earth
