If I had a piano
and knew how to play,
I would while away the night;
to softly tap the keys of my heart.
If I had a harmonica
and knew how to play,
I would inhale slowly to exhale
through the tangled canyons of time.
If I had a guitar
and knew how to play,
I would strum the drawn strings
so tightly fretted across my soul.
If I had a sax
and knew how to play,
I would wail into the long dark
to give vent to the sorrow of day.

Carefully, I unwrap
the dime-store tumblers
and line them up in a row.
As tears stream down my face
I fill them with the water of life;
to carefully tune with a tarnished spoon
in  search  for that one perfect note
of pure grace.

-Wordancer, the poet who writes to the beat of a different drummer

What a soft and sad tune you've played for us.  But so beautifully rendered!

Hugs,
~Krista

Your beautiful words & creativity allow me to connect with the same in myself.
Thank you for having the courage to share yourself so that I can too

this is one of the most original poems I've ever read. Thank you.
