written words
fill the blank pages
to preserve thoughts
experiences
treasured memories of
time
transforms joy
sorrow
into reality
to hold on to
or put aside as needed
to capture
the melodrama of endless years
and the mundane times
as you reach out and trace
with a future finger
all the days of your
past

I love journals...they're the perfect place to get out your thoughts and feelings.  And they're so valuable for looking back on your past.  Not to mention writing the odd poem down   I enjoyed this, thank you!

Hugs,
~Krista

Your beautiful words & creativity allow me to connect with the same in myself.
Thank you for having the courage to share yourself so that I can too

Dar one...so very true, Writing has been the most clensing therapy for me as well! Love, Ellie

yet another good one from ya, WD. great images here, as well as an interesting use of a limited scope - by which i mean that you focused your writing here in upon a much more limited subject than i usually do, and as such you were able to produce a much more detailed look at it. very very good.

NCC, I find it a good challenge to delve deeply into one thought to find what I didn't know was there.

This was the poem I wrote to put on the inside cover of the journal that I gave my son for Christmas.  He is 20 and off too Florida next month, to live, work and go to school. . .a man now.

I so often wish that my ancestors had put their thoughts and deeds into writing.  What a boon that would have been for their descendants.  I am determined to change that pattern. My family is being inundated with written pages from me.  Good for you.  Joyce

This poem meant a lot to me, for personal reasons.
Thank you for this.

worddancer:  I really enjoyed this. Words are such a link, not just within a family, but to the world.  I'm sure your son will treasure this from you.

The poems I've written here...are as close to a journal as I have come since I was a teen...when my sister found the ones I had then...so I stopped...

i like the poem though..very much

Sol

" and I dream of her always,
even when I don't dream.
her name's on my tongue
and her blood's in my stream."

'Christmas in Prison' John Prine
