Hindsight

When snow is lying thick and deep
Upon the beds where blossoms sleep
And hiding all the spots where I
Used to stroll, it makes me sigh,
To think of times I might have been
Enjoying seasons clothed in green.
Instead, I tarried on indoors,
Occupied with daily chores,
Not thinking how the days would fly
And how warm weather hurries by.
Now I'm trapped by piles of snow
And spring is months away I know.
Next year, I vow, I'll change my ways.
Exploring all the summer days.
Absorbing sun and tending flowers.
Quite obssessed with idle hours

"Not thinking how the days would fly"

Yes, how often do we put doing something nice for ourselves and/or just going outside to enjoy nature....you hit it right. Then suddenly we realize it is too late...but then again, a long tramp in the cold, blowing snow is just another facet of mother nature.

This is quite lovely in its presentation.

worddancer:  Thanks for your comments. I'm too much of a sissy to go tramping in the snow right now.  It's only 7 degrees F.

This is a lesson well to learn and so lovely...Carpe Diem...we must always seize the day!  Love, Ellie

My very thought only you have said it so well.  Why do we waste a second of the lovely days?  Joyce
