Could Be Anywhere...

I Know

I have known the despair
of losing one’s child.
The hopelessness, the anguish
the inability to act.

I have known the pain
of being homeless.
The possession of a key
seemingly out of reach.

I have known suffering
teeth falling from ones mouth.
Bones broken and never set
not a dime to spare.

I have known hatred
being attacked for appearance.
Singled out for abuse
because one was different.

I have known evil
as it lied, coaxed me.
Tempting with dreams
laughing with defeat.

I have known poverty
no clothes, no food.
Nothing left but despair
I know of these things.

And through it all...
I know in my knower;
that in God’s eyes
I am precious.

I have known a few of these things, but to have known them all, and still kept the faith is indeed a miracle. I am thankful..that you came through them if this is a personal story.. and that you still have the knowlege that God loves you. A very touching poem, written very well.

Your words touch me deeply. Whatever is bothering you, I hope it will go away soon.

jI have known the loss of a child.  That most hurtful loss of all, but I do not identify with the other deprivations in this poem.  I admire anyone who could have borne them and still not blame God.  Well done.  Joyce

Hi Bro...this one really got to me and you know why. I'm still precious too...thanks for the reminder. I love you. Sis

How can you save me?
When the dark comes right in and takes me,
from my front walk and into bed,
where it kisses my face and eats my head. Shivaree

Thank you, my family for the imput and kind thoughts. This piece came from a close encounter of the self righteous kind...
figgered those who have suffered much should
hear that they are precious.
My strawberries...nice to hear from you, love!
I too have been thinking of you...

may God's love flood y'all

This poem is beautiful. I loved the flow and the feel, and the ending was uplifting.
