My Eyes Were Made to See

My eyes were made to reap with joy magnolia’s snowy bloom
My sense of smell to taste the sweet of lilac’s soft perfume
My ears were made to hear the raindrops tiptoe through the night
My hands were made to touch the dogwood petal milky white

My eyes were meant to spot a cardinal’s red in revelry
My ears to hear the fluttering wings from out the holly tree
My mouth to whisper words of praise that all this beauty lies
In great abundance all around me under azure skies

My eyes were meant to see the truth within the depths of yours
My ears were meant to hear a distant cry I’ve heard before
My heart was made to harbor sweet compassion’s precious seed
My hands were meant to reach to others in their hour of need

My feet are meant to leave a path that I have tread on earth
My heart to hold the  treasures that it deems of greatest worth
My soul is meant to lead the mind on paths it knows are right
My eyes were made to see the sorrow in your eyes tonight

you are a marvel...

Oh Liz, you always write with such delicate grace and wisdom    This touches me and it's so beautiful!

Into my library this goes, and I'm also printing this out to leave on the table for my mom to read - I know it will touch her too

Take care,
Melissa~

Oh, Liz; A poem like this could only come from a heart as beautiful as yours! So inspiring!!!  Love, Ellie

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.

This was so gentle and beauiful
