Life as we know it
Is somewhat a mystery
We live for a while
But soon become history

Yet whatever transpires
‘Tween our first breath and last
Constitutes a lifetime
Our die has been cast

We arrive as a baby
Dependent on Mom
To be safe, fed and “Pampered”
Contented and warm

We learn so quickly
By the things that surround
And absorb so much knowledge
At a rate quite profound

By the time we are teens
It becomes quite apparent
We are smarter by far
Than either of our parents

With our hormones raging
Our adrenaline nearly double
Our Guardian Angels work overtime
To keep us out of trouble

As young adults we work hard
Trying to make our mark
Leaves little time for picnics
And walks in the park

Soon we have families
And work all the more
Not counting years passing
No time to keep score

One day we wake up
Feeling tired and old
Shocked by the mirror
“You’re middle aged” we’re told

The years pass so quickly
We're too soon older, but wiser
But before long we're due
To become plant fertilizer

Yes, Life is a mystery
Sometimes we're perplexed
But with all this variety
Can't wait to see what's next

hmm I just knew life was too short

I breathe the dust, the dust is me.
