Jack Frost gleefully tip-toed, across my yard last night.
Writing his name where e're he went, leaving a trail of white.
He's Mother Nature's favorite, happy, mischievous son.
He's finishing up so many chores, that Fall had just begun.
He's taken all malingering leaves and stripped the branches clean.
This charming fellow, over-night, has created a change of scene.

The winter birds are searching now, for yesterday's bountiful seed.
The're looking to the feeders and me to fill their need.
I'll strike a bargain with you Jack, since you're downing all the weeds;
I'll gladly shoulder the small task of keeping the birds in seeds.
When Winter comes to help you, I'll put my garden tools away.
With you and your brother toiling, I'm on a holiday.
