The water looks crisp and delicious,
Scraps piled high in my bowl,
I lap it all up to the very last drop
And swallow the juicy meat whole

Now then, my belly is quiet
I think I’ll go jump on the bed
Snuggle in close to my master
And try very hard not to shed

But wait! What’s this feeling inside me?
What’s this gurgling noise all about?
And now a strong urge to stand near a tree,
Oh no!  I’ve got to get out!

But the door that leads to relief
Is most decidedly shut,
Steadfast and solid, refusing,
To open itself for this mutt.

Wake up Mr. Man! Can’t you hear me?
I’m in trouble here, there’s no doubt
Circling madly downstairs in the hall,
Come quickly and help me get out!

But this rug on the floor is enticing
And the plant in the corner looks nice,
Not as swell as a tree, or a sweet patch of grass
But I guess it will have to suffice

Ahhh!  The blessed release causes quivers
As I raise my hind leg in the air,
But what’s this? My master approaching!
And instinct is screaming, Beware!

Don’t give me that look Mr. Big Man,
The fault here lies solely with you,
Be glad that it’s just a small puddle,
I still have to go number two

And don’t think I mind be banished,
To this lovely old tree where I’m tied,
I’m happy to lay in the cool shade
And spend a few hours outside!

Thanks to both of you for your replies!  It was fun to write from a dog's perspective!

LMAO. I had to read this one out loud to my daughter AND our dog, Skippy, who quietly relieved himself in the kitchen a couple of hours ago when we ignored his plea. He had just been outside, and we thought he was done. This poem was so funny, and from a doggie's point of view was a great perspective. Thanks, Kacy and Sara, and Skippy, our Jack Russell Terrorist.

Apachecat906, (or Carrie?, I think I just met you over in the lounge!  Happy Birthday again!)  Cats...I think I'll write my next poem about the TWO I have!

Joyce, my doggie thanks you for your concern! And I thank you too, now I need to go let him out!
