We were together from the start
Beneath our mother's beating heart;
A carbon copy, you and me
We had it all once, didn’t we?

What is it like to be a twin?
We just don’t know, have never been
Apart ~ a single entity;
We had the best, most certainly.

A constant duo through the years,
Through smiles aplenty, heartache’s tears;
A looking-glass reality
We shared it all then, didn't we?

The forking road has come at last
Strange new horizons breaking fast
Diverging paths our destiny
Yet close in heart we'll always be.

This is for my twin sister, Sharon, who is moving to Kansas City, Kansas in March or April due to her husband's job. My heart is breaking     but I wish them the best. I just wish Kansas wasn't so darned far away.

Neither time nor distance will ever truly seperate you. I am the father of twins, the bonds are limitless. I wish you both the best.

Thank you, RS and Marge for reading and for your understanding replies. Yep, we'll never lose that bond no matter what, and yep, I'll have a new place to visit, even though it means I'll have to get on a plane.     Yikes!!

You will be amazingly close by Internet and phone, and only a hop away on a plane. But it will be harder to hug. Hugs to you and your sis.

Denise-
   Oh my...this just reached in and tugged
   at my heart.
   You've penned this beautifully.

   I can only imagine how difficult it must
   be to have your sister move away, but
   you know you will always be close in your
   hearts no matter what the distance between you.

   Heart hugs to you both.

I've always thought twins had a special blessing.  One of my daughter-in-laws is a twin and over the years I have seen what a bond there is between her and her sister. They live miles apart but they always seem to have a sixth sense about what is going on with the other.  I imagine you and your sister do too.  Hope the future continues to foster that bond. Lovely poem.

Denise; This is a beautiful, tender poem and a sad time for you. My younger sister (we are soul sisters), lives in Oregon. We have never lost that connection that is bound at the heart. Hugs, Ellie

What a wonderful bond to have,  I can't imagine that one could ever find a closer soulmate than a twin.  But won't it be fun to find each other again on your visits.  Joyce

Denise...

oh...how this touched my heart, You and your sister are so lucky to have each other...I have a sister of my own (not a twin), but neither time nor distance(and there has been alot of miles between us, between college and marriage) has ever kept us apart and I am sure it won't keep you and Sharon apart either....*HUGS* and PRAYERS to you both.

Oh Denis, this is really a beautiful poem for your twin sister. I can understand you missing her terribly and I am sure you will both have a very special connection, even though she will be far from you, you know she will be right there beside you.

Beautifully written Denise...being a twin myself I can relate, ( although my twin isnt living and I didnt have the chance to live with her, she was still born) I misss her so very much.

Denise.
I can't imagine what it's like to be a twin, but I know how close I am to my sister who has always lived far away. you will feel the closeness in times of need. She will always be there for you across the miles.
This is a wonderful and loving poem
