A lifetime has danced across the stage
Since you have been gone;
An array of stunning brides
And handsome grooms;
Proud hard working parents;
A systems tech, a secretary;
A teacher, some artists;
A chef, an accountant;
A singer and songwriter;
Small ones now grown
Taking their place
Center stage
In the continuing saga
Begun not so long ago;
Each generation crowned with
Untarnished brilliant jewels
Of the past
Spectacular to behold;
Robed in garments stitched
With golden threads of love
That will never fray or tatter;
In each newborn’s wide-eyed innocence,
In each first accomplishment,
With each long-awaited dream realized,
Another chapter is written in your honor
Penned to your memory;
And somehow, somewhere,
I think you are enjoying the show…
And so
For you
The show must go on.

~In Memory~

A repost for Mom and Dad on the upcoming blessed event of the birth of their third great-grandchild. (Mom never met any of her grandchildren and Dad met one of the great-granchildren.) Times like this are bittersweet for me.

My daughter, Trisha, is due at the end of September and will most likely need another Caeserean as this baby is also in the breach position with, apparantly, no intention of changing its mind! I say 'its' because we can't see what it is! But seriously, please keep my daughter in your prayers. Thanks. It's most appreciated.

Prayers en route - as the show goes on...

I like this piece, Denise - even if it isn't a sonnet..

Denise:  I will certainly add your daughter to my prayer list!  Lovely poem.  I have just had a reaffirmation of the power of prayer. My daughter had a lump removed from her breast last week and we just got the lab report today.  It was benign!! We are so thankful.  May all go well with your daughter.

Dear Denise; I too, have felt that bittersweet moment during family moments of joy. I miss my mom getting to share in it all. You said it all so beautifully. Please know that your daughter is surely in my prayers for all to be well in His loving care. My son was breach and a cesarean, he weighed 10lbs 4 oz...love, Ellie

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.

This is a wonderful poem. It makes me sad to know that your mother never knew her grandchildren and vise versa. My prayers are with the new baby and mother.
Christina' baby is due any day. They are going to induce her this Monday. My first grandaughter.
Best wishes to all
Liz

I knew this was going to be for your dad almost right away, and I was 1/2 right (it was for your mom and dad). But even though they didn't get to meet all of their great-grandkids, I'm sure they are watching over them from heaven. Beautiful poem Denise, and I'll keep Trisha in my prayers.

What a wonderful piece Denise....Yes the show must go on!!!  I will keep you and your daughter in my prayers.  Both of my parents are still alive.  But, I have thought about what it would be like for them not to be here if I get married and have children.
Take Care!!!!!!!!!!
