Legacy

My father wasn't one to show
The way he felt and yet I know
His love for me was strong and deep.
He gave me memories to keep.
His strength was there to lean upon
And even after I was gone
away from home, I knew that he
Supported and watched out for me.

I've missed his jokes and laughter too
And all the thoughtful things he'd do,
To ease my path in ways he could.
My times with him were rich and good.
They ended far too soon, but we
Cannot control our destiny.
The values that he taught survive.
My sons are keeping them alive!

Nice tribute to your father and how nice his values shine, apparently through your good teachings.

You got me Betty.  One of my favorite subjects.  And how lucky you, to have those sons.  Joyce

Joyce:  Thanks.  I realize every day what a blessing children are, both sons and daughters. You never "out-grow" them that's for sure.

Denise:  Yes, he was a special person, not just in my life, but to others as well.  He was only 53 when he died of cancer.
