What can I say about him?
His name is Eddie
(was seems so unreal)
Somebody’s son,
brother, uncle,
friend.
Some said he liked
his drugs
and the fellas
a bit too much.
Maybe so
but to me he was
just Eddie.
He touched me
deep inside
with his
genuine concern,
perpetual smile,
jovial manner,
gentle touch.
Never down,
never hurried,
he gave me time,
a warm greeting,
a smile,
an embrace.
He gave me
special.
What can I say?
Someone
very special
Is gone
and
the world
is
diminished.

Its always so sad when someone dies too soon, too unfulfilled. Very touching poem, Denise.

Thank you, Kathleen, Sandra and Martie. He passed away in his sleep after work on Saturday night, most likely from a heart attack or a stroke (his brother had a stroke but survived last year...age 48). He was only 45. Please keep his family in your prayers.

Denise:  I'm so sorry to hear of your sorrow. He did have the blessing of not suffering a lingering illness and he left a mark on people who knew him. Small comfort I'm sure, but you will remember him as being "special".

Thank you, Lady and Nan for your thoughtful and kind comments. His sudden passing was yet another reminder to me to cherish every second that we have with those that we love. Tomorrow is not a guarantee to any of us.

Sad.  Everyone is special to someone... somewhere.. somehow... everyone is special. It is sad when a soul leaves the earth.. for there is always 'someone' left behind. Sad.

Well I guess loving a person means only truely knowing them and not judging them, but this is so sad as well I'm sorry you lost him.

You don't have a choice to die but you do have a choice how you meet it.

My friend, this is just a lovely pour from your heart.
Eddie had a friend in you and it's nice to read your tribute to him.

No one deserves death, especially a premature death like this one, no matter what they have done. Everyone has something special about them. Eddie seems like a very special person, Denise. He will live on.
