On Fisherman's Wharf

The pelicans on Fisherman's Wharf seem to be doing fine
They eat foods of different moods that people leave behind
The fishermen on Fisherman's Wharf are throwing out a line
They catch a dish of  gourmet fish that pelicans can’t find

The sea lions on Fisherman's Wharf will heckle out of tune
They clap fins with applauding fans who imitate their moves
The romantics on Fisherman's Wharf are kissing neath the moon
They hope to find a state of mind that sea lions approve

The crustaceans on Fisherman's Wharf are enormous in size
They clasp tanks and live under planks before the tourist's eyes
The clientele on Fisherman's Wharf are genius in disguise
They leave their shells or they will smell crustaceous otherwise

Hey, great poem.
I got a laugh out of this, as I recently wrote a sonnet of Fisherman's warf
I like your poem a lot better
There sure are plenty of critters down there

Liz,

I think I recall reading your poem and if I remember correctly it was a real riot as well.  (little play on words)  Anyway, thanks for reading and for your kind comments.  And yes, for sure, the warf does have strange and unique creatures of all kinds.  -Bob

I loved the internal rhyme - and the giggles you gave this time.

Bob:  This is a fun read.  I really enjoyed it. It reminded me that I recently heard the people of Gold Beach, Oregon, make homes for any stray cats that come to light, on their jetty.  They neuter and feed them and build sleeping places for them.  Great, don't you think?

Trillium,

Thank you.  I spent about three months in the Springfield/Eugene area and I regret that I never got over to the Oregon coast.  I hear that it is beautiful.  Matter of fact, we got our cat in a similar way... we got her four years ago from a lady veterinarian who finds stray cats and kittens on the street, takes them home, neuters them, gives them flea baths etc, gives them their shots and advertises them in the newspaper to be given away to good homes.  What these people do is quite a marvelous work indeed.  -Bob

Melton,

I guess your right, but it is only because the wharf is one of my favorite places in the whole earth to hang out... so I suppose that I should notice something.  -Bob
