Dear LORD, What did I get into?
Just what was I thinking back then?
I know he badly needed a good wife--
But why did I hook up with him?

He said I was his Heaven-sent Angel
The one that he prayed for each night,
Oh how could I have been so wrong,
In picking out my Mr. Right?

My wagon's been linked to a loser
...Thought his ignorance could be overcome!
But I'm doing all the thinking and talking--
As he stands there dumbfounded and dumb!

I'd teach him LORD, if he'd listen
But he interrupts, with nonsense too soon,
LORD, help him to keep his mouth shut
So he can learn something, the Bafoon!

And LORD help him be more Charitable
And less fearful, his money to lose,
Show him just having, ain't blessing--
But we're blessed when of it, we make use!

LORD, help him, his wife, to appreciate
Instead of casting a critical eye,
Some folks just don't know when they have it made-
(I could have just passed him by!)

For some reason, LORD,I still believe he can change
And become the True Partner,I need,
Will You not help him, for I truly care--
Help bring my man up to speed!

Thank You, LORD, I knew You'd understand.

I like the honesty here, but I wonder that there is no mention of acceptance and unconditional love. Maybe I'm taking it all too seriously! Good write my friend...Ellie

I enjoyed both poems very much.

You took a humorous look at what happens when couples take off the rose-colored glasses of courtship and wrote it well.

Yanno...I like this a lot. It touches me in exactly the way it says here. I remember my Dad giving me some advice along these lines some time back. Enjoyed....
