Singing Loneliness

Why did you leave me?
Why did you run?
Singing loneliness?

I sit here and watch
as the rain falls
down my window
and I think of places I've been
Memories flow through me
as I look
through my prism
I wonder if the light can get in

I've fought all my life
to bust down these walls
and to live
like a free man again
But time after time
I'm brought back
to this place
for the darkness is holding me in

Why must I always
be the one?
Singing loneliness?

You have set a mournful atmosphere with your poem.  I hope you find an answer to your question.

Trillium,
Thank you   Although this poem poses more of a rhetorical question, I do long for a happiness that I seem unable to reach. Maybe one day....

Maybe you're good at singing the blues,
Maybe it was a job none other would chose
Maybe you'll appreciate Love more when it comes,
Maybe then all your singing won't seem
   so dumb!
       MAYBE!

An interesting reflective poem here, Thanks,

So sad. You have done a splendid job of describing lonliness.
Good work.

Ah loneliness is an old friend. Know the feeling.

Don't ever give in, if you do you've lost everything you've ever had and everything you hope to gain, but if you carry on your already winning.

deleeme,
thanks for the poetic answer...it makes a nice "coda"  .. glad you enjoyed my poem enough to add to it.

Joyce, 2dalimit, Moon Dust,
I'm glad that my work adequately describes a feeling that we all go through at one time or another... thanks for your kind words.
