When the night is dark and dreary,
and the light seems lost forever,
from a cold and grey etched sun;

there’s a candle in the window,
to lead you safely home again.

When the outside world abuses,
in a callous, spiteful way,
serving pain with cruel precision;

there’s a candle in the window,
to sooth your troubled soul.

When your battered body staggers,
from a cross too hard to bear,
and you fall in breathless agony;

there’s a candle in the window,
to heal your raw and open wounds.

It burns for you in darkness,
in the midst of your searing pain,
it burns in constant saving light;

this single candle in the window,
that leads you safely home.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

Yes a true home always has a light burning for the lost and straying one.  Nice poem.  Joyce

I enjoyed your poem and it's true that a light in a window reflects hope and cheerfulness to those passing by.

Every time I finish reading one of your poems I'm not only amazed by the beauty of the words, but also by the beauty of the message.

Ah home, this is nicely done

Don't ever give in, if you do you've lost everything you've ever had and everything you hope to gain, but if you carry on your already winning.
