I can't remember simple,
if that's how it used to be.
So baby bring back easy,
say what you need from me.
I want us to be happy and
I don't equate that with an end.
'Cause I don't want to lose my lover,
anymore than my best friend.
I'm sorry if you aren't sure
if I'll always be around.
But right now things are shaky,
still I plan to hold my ground.
If you say you fully trust me,
you know that would be a lie.
'Cause your maybes invalidate the
affiance you said's in my eyes.
Saying, "But in the past..."
starts to sound rehearsed,
I hear the hurt that lies beneath it.
And it hurts me even worse,
though not as much as silence
'cause you won't talk to me.
Although the reason why
is something I don't see.
You seem to have the idea
that I won't give my all,
but it's the lack of you
that's putting up the walls.
We need not walls, but a roof!
To save us from tears and rain.
So let me be your covering,
let me house you from your pain.
Have some faith in yourself,
have a little more in me.
Have some trust in the beauty
that I see in us being 'we.'
I can't do more than promise.
I can't do more than try.
I can't do more than in fact do
anything for 'You and I.'
Try to be gentle with your words,
I take to heart all you say.
When you said, "No matter what,"
you put a shine on my dark day.
And just as that brought out my smile,
your words may easily sting.
And rash remarks often beget
nothing but unrequited things.
I'm just telling you how I'm willfull,
but don't think I won't compromise.
'Cause I'd do anything to be closer
to the boy with the moon in his eyes.
It's not fair if you don't tell me.
I have insecurities and fears, too.
But I'm not afraid of them!
Like I'm afraid of losing you...

This is a very nice poem. I like this poem, and I hope that you two help each other like in the poem. I hope that you two can make amends.

being not such a great fan of love poems so to speak i was skeptical, but you put your heart in it, you struck a chord in the old hardened heart, so bravo, i dug it.

It's funny how poetry tells your story, and another's at the same time. Thanks for the voice to speak what I couldn't find the words to say. Allbeit too late, still it's nice to see them being said. Kind of as if it heals to hear someone say it. No wonder I love poetry so much...it does so much, and it costs nothing but a little bit of time to write it out. Lovely!!!!!!!!!!!
Loved this!!!
