Fog Comes! |

The fog comes sailing cross the sea, Till the horizon's lost to me And as I watch things disappear, The day is lost as well, I fear. I go inside, but can't refrain From gazing out the window pane, In hopes a thinning will occur. The beach at low tide is a lure, For who can tell what you may find The tidal surges left behind? But not today. The fog has won. There's not the faintest sign of sun. So it's a book and tea for me. A cat to keep me company! Betty Lou Hebert |

I like this Betty. There are always other pleasures if we are denied on. Love, Joyce |

I like this very much, although I must say that I also like the fog. I somehow find misty, foggy, rainy days reassuring. To give the day to tea and a book is good too though. One's not half two it's two are halves of one EE Cummings |

Betty; I love the way you write! The gentle acceptance and the kindness you give yourself is heartwarming. Ellie A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails. |

Your poem has a such an aura about it as lights trying to pierce the fog. I enjoyed being there sharing the moment with you (figuratively), and filling the day with Wonder(fog & sea washed treasures), Words(a cozy book), and Whiskers(a reference to your purrrrfect foggy day companion). Thanks for the beautiful sharing. David No Better Place do I know God Bless us All!!! |

Red Feather: Thanks for you words. I do like fog too, really. Except when it gets so thick I can't find my way home, which did happen a couple of times when I lived in Seattle, years ago. It's not so enchanting then. Betty Lou Hebert |

Marge: Thanks for reading and commenting. There was a fog horn just beyond the breakers, where we stayed last week and I could hear it calling all night long, several times. That really inspired the poem. Betty Lou Hebert |

I really enjoyed this, as I have enjoyed many days escaping the fog through a good book. ~Krissie I'm the answer to a question no one asked a sleepless dreamer, destroyed by passion |
