Should the planned execution
Of America's mass murderer take place,
I think it warrants a Holiday
To rise up from such a disgrace
Of  all such shameless actions
Against all the innocent, of course,
Let those who showed no mercy
Nor subsequent remorse
Be forever forgotten
But let it be clearly seen,
That Justice emerged from the rubble
In addressing such awful scenes!

And thus in June, a Holiday
The "Day of Justice Served,"
To remind the would-be terrorists
Just punishment comes, if deserved!

Be it a day of solemness
To remember the victims of crime,
And a day to honor those
Upholding Justice, defeating the slime!

Therein, may it be a tradition
All villians go nameless, obscure,
To honor instead all Uprightness
And work t'ward inequities cure.

I thus do advance the Motion
And seek wide adoption to this call,
Establish a "JUSTICE SERVED" Holiday
And seek it's fulfillment by all!

Amen! and AMEN!

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.

I don't deny one's right to object, complain, or disagree with the federal government. However, to kill innocent men, women, and children is the wrong way to do it. Therefore, I second the motion.
Good poem.

Such a sad time.  I have no sympathy for the perpetrator, but I don't want a holiday about it. He has no right to be remembered at all.  Joyce

To celebrate death, even a criminal's is somehow distasteful to me.

I think some of you may be missing the point.
It is not to give attention so much to the infamy of the those gross perteprators of sense heartache and bloodshed, but a postive attesting that we as a people, abhor such violence, and will take steps to address it, upholding a sense of Justice and decency.
In doing so, even if it requires the death of the perpetrator,(life for a life, or for many lives- as is often the case), the focus is not on vindictive death, but on the need for Justice to prevail and have the upper hand, thus discouraging others from taking the law in their own hands, and showing utter disregard for the dignity of human life.  Those personally involved in the justice system, ought to be recognized for the service which they render to our nation and society.  By thus putting the focus on their actions, to address the malignent wrongs, and upholding the statutes of decency, we have by effect-taken the spotlight off the criminal, and thus diminished their perverse attention getting.
I understand where the ones that have shown initial misgivings at such a proposal are coming from, but I still believe, such a holiday would be a good thing- a Postive statement favoring our Justice System, not as a vindictive or hateful statement against any one individual.
So again, I ask for your acceptance of such a holiday.
     Thank You,
         David

I celebrate the accomplishments of this country on July 4th, the freedoms we have been given and the democracy we must protect.

Thank you for your input Sharon. I respect your feelings & attitudes. If I have offended anyone by my suggestion, I apolize.
It was not my intentions to do so. Nor do I feel that it is an issue which we must debate. It was just a well meaning suggestion on my part--each of you can consider it and take it for what you deem it's worth.  Thanks again,

David~
This is a worthy post of your opinion -
I believe that we, as citizens, need to rise up and take a stand against the horrendous crimes in this nation.
It perhaps need not be in a celebratory fashion -
but more attention should be given to celebrating the 'rights of innocent citizens',
and quit baby-sitting the 'rights of the perpetrators found guilty'.

Thank you for your poetically stated suggestions.
