The words we speak and plans we've laid,
Are often just a masquerade,
To hide away from folks we know
The feelings we're afraid to show.
We carry false veneers about,
While truth and honesty lose out.
But those who practice this deceit,
Will someday find beneath their feet,
The shaky ground of sham and lies.
Perhaps too late they'll realize
The imitation life they've led,
In thought and deed, in things they've said,
Has cheated them right from the start
Of what we each know in our heart.
There's freedom, satisfaction too,
When basic values govern you.
When you can meet with no disguise,
The questions in each persons eyes
And you can show in all you do,
Sincerity means most to you!

Very good Betty.  So many find it as easy to lie as to tell the truth.  Joyce

Your words are wise.  It is easier for some people to hide inside a lie than to let others see the truth.
Thanks for sharing.

Dear Barb:

Thanks for bringing this one back to life. I see that I didn't reply to the others in June and that was when my computer was out of commission. If any of them check...
Thank You.....

Dear Betty Lou,

Loved the way you touched upon lies. So many people go through life without thinking how their actions may come back and smack them in the face. It's so much easier being truthful, as you will always feel at peace within yourself.
