"Mr Burroughs, like a dead dog,
staring through London
night in a heroin haze"
------------------------

Fall down on the street
crawl from the beat
from gutters take stance
Juism flows of ageing descent.
The canine teeth are out
for us still frozen
cranks of glitter faced drunks
foaming wildly flickering memory
to youthful play, knawing
at the parents breast.

Femme beau anorexic patrol
the alleys, parade as wireframe
sniffing for the needle dance;
suck the marrow from your love
the mute dog chews the clit
whisper of infected intelluct.
Kiss the dead dogs, muzzles prozac
Kill the neck cats pleasing
all unaware of pleasures price.
Decadence marks the mind
elevating beyond morality.

THE SNARL OF GOD.

dogs moan
mute men
dumb ones
dead dogs
feed our frenzy-
us urban parasites
today
and
all nights.

-----------------------------------------------
There couldn't be a society of people who didn't dream. They'd be dead in two weeks.

William S. Burroughs

Oh, dear Brian.  This sounds like a terrible place to live.  And I get lonely sometimes with my cats and my flowers, but I guess I'll stay here.  Joyce

interesting work. It should be in dark passions.

An interesting read, you express yourself well, but I do hope your life is not all darkness. Not to treat your subject matter lightly, this reminds me of a time my children came running home and told me there was a dead dog lying on the local church's front steps. They wanted me to come and see so we approached the church and sure enough a dog lay outstretched, flies buzzing all around him, looking as dead as dead could be, as we approached him to look a little closer, he suddenly rose to his feet, startling us and and the same time giving us a good laugh. I wish you peace and love and laughter.

Joyce, well I guess the place is any major city. That is what I was reflecting in the poem, in my mind at least  the poem is partly a comment on the heroin problem in Ireland it is also about general excess. There is a kind of a beat/glam rock vibe going through the poem as well. Mark Bolan (T-REX) meets Burroughs. Thanks for your very kind comments.

mistyrose, thanks smiles for your very kind words.

Xeonox, thanks but without offence to dark forum I think the poem would be viewed ina different light if posted there, labelled almost in a way I don't want the piece to be.

Songbird, it is not a personal poem, more voyeurism. It is terrible to see animals suffer it is even more terrible to see humans suffer. thank you for your kind words

my goodness Bri...this is a real headbanger..
great rhythmic flow driving thru this...
and yes..intense and deep...
excellent employ of extended metaphor and the imagery was "in your face" and stark...
reality slap...
and WAAYYY COOL...

heh kathleen, you know me always intense....
LOL thanks for reading and replying.

Jan, too much reading dark books is probably it. I guess I should detox with books about all things fluffy and funny...naaah.... thanks as always for following me through my madness.
