I so enjoy the days of May,
Why is God taking some away?
This day has come from February.
It's cold and wet, windy and dreary.

We'd suffered through cruel winter's blast.
Were celebrating spring at last.
The forecaster says that all the week,
Will be this nasty, cold and bleak.

I guess there's something to the rumor,
God truly has a sense of humor;
But being God He will repay
For everything He takes away.

And though these days are dark and grim,
I will not speak my mind to Him.
Because I know that He'll remember
To give May back in cold December.

Lovely Joyce! I can so relate..weird weather we are having and yes, He does have a marvelous sense of humor!  Ellie

So much of what we want to do depends on the weather. We aren't very powerful after all, are we?

I loved the poem, but the above two lines are outstanding...they say so very much.*S*

He has a way of doing that, doesn't He? Great poem, Joyce!

Joyce,
I don't know where you live but your last verse is so very true here in TX. I enjoyed this and thank you for sharing this with us. Panne

Joyce,

I second Panne's thoughts- sure you're not from Texas? Charming poem.

Thanks Friends for your comments.  I am from the State of Washington,  the Puget Sound, where we can be rewarded with beautiful dqys any month of the year and with some, stormy, dreary days any month also.  This week we are having beautiful warm sunshiny days and I am trying to catch up with the weeds.  Love, Joyce

What a wonderful thought, and whimsically penned.
There must be a balance somewhere!
The gift will be more splendid than what was taken away

Joyce, I grew up in sunny Arizona. Now I live in PA. so I love what your poem says about tiring of those dreary days. Suddenly though, God sends the most glorious golden day-just as you said. Smiles to you!
